CARRIER RECEIVES BEST IN SHOW AWARD FOR HVAC COMFORTECH 2006

Prestigious Award Recognizes Carrier for its Innovative Infinity®14 Hybrid Heat Packaged System

INDIANAPOLIS, IN., September 22, 2006 – Carrier Corporation, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) has won the HVAC Comfortech 2006 Product Showcase Award for Best In Show in the heating products category. HVAC Comfortech 2006, the National, Residential and Light Commercial Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Seminar Showcase took place from September 13-16 in Baltimore, Maryland. Sponsored by Contracting Business, the award recognizes Carrier's Infinity®14 Hybrid Heat Packaged System with Puron® refrigerant, which is part of its new line of products launched this year.

Each year, the HVAC Comfortech Product Showcase Best In Show Award is given to the best of the best at HVAC Comfortech. Carrier's Infinity® Series 14 SEER Hybrid Heat™ Packaged System with Puron® refrigerant combines the industry's leading technologies into a single system that is among the industry's most advanced.

Manufactured in Carrier's East Texas Operations plant in Tyler, Texas, the Infinity 14 Hybrid Heat Packaged System is the industry's first 14 SEER Hybrid Heat™ system with Infinity® controls – offering the small packaged market an HVAC system like no other. The Tyler facility is part of Residential & Light Commercial Systems and produces 350,000 air conditioning units annually for both the commercial and residential markets. The Tyler team worked hard to make the launch of the 14 SEER Packaged System product a success.

The Hybrid Heat™ system gives homeowners the ability to dramatically reduce heating costs while maintaining maximum comfort. Once the controls are properly set based on local conditions and energy costs, the system automatically selects the most cost-effective heat pump and gas heat operating modes. In addition, Infinity controls offer unmatched capability for controlling humidity, air quality, ventilation and fan speed. The zoning capability and seven-day programmability of Infinity controls give homeowners up to eight different zones at varying temperatures. The tremendous diagnostic and serviceability benefits help to ensure that homeowners receive the high efficiency benefits throughout the life cycle of the system.

The system meets the new 2006 ENERGY STAR requirements and offers the efficiency and comfort of two-stage cooling and two-stage gas heat, along with a long list of advanced features and benefits.

"We are honored and excited to have won this award. Winning this award is a reflection of Carrier's continued investment in product innovation and technology," said Rick Roetken, Director of Marketing for Residential & Light Commercial Systems, Carrier Corporation.

As a leader in HVAC innovation and technology, this award helps Carrier celebrate its continued efforts in raising the standard of HVAC product excellence and innovative design, and the company is grateful for receiving this prestigious honor.

"We would like to thank the Design Engineering and Manufacturing teams for their hard work and dedication in bringing product to market, and for contributing to this momentous win," said Roetken.
