INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 13, 2005 – As fuel and energy costs continue to climb to record levels, homeowners are becoming increasingly concerned about their heating bills. Carrier Corporation today unveiled a new 90 percent gas furnace line that provides improved energy efficiency and lowers utility costs by up to 30 percent compared to less efficient systems previously seen in the industry with Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency rating, or AFUE, up to 96.6%, this line by Carrier is the most enhanced of gas furnace products available.
"This product enhancement is a direct result of Carrier's commitment to providing innovative heating and cooling products to consumers each year," said Carrier North America Residential President Halsey Cook. "Carrier's enhanced 90 percent gas furnace line offers homeowners a solution to today's soaring oil prices, with an industry leading product that will also help them save on energy costs."
Homeowners will also benefit from the new line's various features, such as Carrier's PowerHeat silicone nitride (SiN) Igniter, S-shaped heat exchanger and a reduction in air leakage, allowing the products to exhibit maximum energy efficiency and cost savings.
Meeting the ENERGY STAR™ guidelines for energy efficiency, the enhanced condensing gas furnaces come fully equipped with Carrier's PowerHeat SiN Igniter. The industry exclusive hot surface igniter will ignite gas more efficiently and reliably, saving fuel that is normally wasted by a continuous pilot light. With worry-free operation, the PowerHeat Igniter is resistant to clogging, fluttering and blowouts that can often happen in pilot light systems. Consumers can take comfort in knowing their furnace is operating properly and efficiently, with less maintenance required.
The energy efficient performance is backed by Carrier's exclusive S-shaped heat exchanger, which uses dual heat exchangers transferring up to 96.6 percent of all useable heat from furnace operation into the home. All furnace models boast a single-pipe or two-pipe venting with at least 92 percent efficiency on single pipe upflow applications.
With less air leakage than ever before, Carrier has reduced cabinet air leakage up to 30 percent compared to other gas furnaces in the 90 percent gas furnace product offering.
With quieter operation than previous models, the advanced furnaces are available with a sound reduction up to 3 decibels. For homeowners, quieter operation means less intrusiveness – they won't even know their furnace is there! The new product models 58MVB, 58MTB, 58MXB, and 58MCB with up to 96.6% percent AFUE ratings are now available through Carrier.
