Joseph Frederick and Sons

2012 President’s Award Spotlight

Carrier Corp. proudly presents the 2012 President’s Award to Joseph Frederick & Sons. This is their third time winning this prestigious award. Through their professionalism and high level of customer service, Joseph Frederick & Sons truly exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding contractor.

Joseph Frederick & Sons

Brothers Brian and Robbie Frederick just celebrated the 65th anniversary of Joseph Frederick & Sons in April 2012. Back in 1947, their grandfather Joseph Frederick started a small plumbing business on his front porch in Wilmington.  Since then, the company has grown from a “one-man, one-truck” business into a multimillion-dollar organization, providing 15,000 residents in northern Delaware and the surrounding region with plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical services, and now also with kitchen and bathroom remodeling. Joseph Frederick & Sons, known in the region for its persimmon-and-black trucks, is one of the nation’s few family-owned and -operated businesses to survive into the fourth generation.

“We made it through by sticking to the values our grandfather held up as the gold standard 65 years ago: hard work and strong ethics,” says Brian Frederick, president. Brian and Robbie also credit their success to their commitment to outstanding customer service and continuously educating and updating their employees about the latest technologies and industry changes.

Joseph Frederick & Sons received the Delaware Better Business Bureau’s 2005 Rush Award for Integrity and 2007 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.

“Most of our business comes from referrals and returning customers because they know they can count on us to do the job right the first time,” says Robbie Frederick, vice president. “We put our customers first, and we are honored that Carrier has recognized us for our efforts.”

Beyond the business, Brian and Robbie are firmly rooted in their community. Brian is a Paul Harris Fellow in the local Rotary Club. Also, for the past 20 years, Brian has been educating students about how the choices they make today will impact their future through the University of Delaware’s Business Industry Education Alliance. Both brothers have been actively involved in youth soccer and, as a company, Joseph Frederick & Sons proudly donates considerable time, money and energy to the Delaware soccer community.

“This year’s recipients achieved their business goals while successfully representing Carrier to their communities and continually focusing on customer satisfaction,” said Chris Nelson, vice president, sales and marketing, Carrier Residential and Commercial Systems. “Winners will be able to capitalize on publicity, marketing and merchandising opportunities that are unique to President’s Award recipients and therefore continue to shape, grow and succeed in their business.”
