2011 President's Award Spotlight
Carrier Corp. proudly presents the 2011 President’s Award to Great Dane Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. Through their professionalism and high level of customer service, Great Dane Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. truly exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding contractor.
Great Dane Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. was started in 1999 with the desire to improve the image that the service industry has given itself by not providing the experience that homeowners expect from the contractors they hire. Josh Bigelow, owner of Great Dane embarked on a mission to create a company that built its reputation on its company motto, “Experience the Service you Deserve!”
Mr. Bigelow embarked on a journey to build his company into one that other contractors would try to emulate. His desire to be the best is a continuing challenge that the Great Dane team works at daily. This is achieved by ongoing education, training, team building, and participation in an A.C.C.A. mixed group. Mr. Bigelow actively solicits suggestions, ideas, and sharing experiences with his team during their daily meetings. He also shares his experiences and knowledge with his students by teaching in Baker College’s HVAC program. His desire is to provide the industry with technicians that are better prepared to enter the HVAC profession.
As a result, Great Dane Heating and Air Conditioning has become Michigan’s 1st three-time consecutive recipient of Carrier Corp.’s President’s Award and Macomb County’s ONLY Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer. In addition Great Dane Heating and Air Conditioning has also been recognized by Air Conditioning Contractors of America as the State of Michigan’s Contractor of the Year in 2003, and also as a Finalist for the Excellence in Residential Contracting by A.C.C.A. in 2004, 2006, and 2007. Great Dane was also recognized with the “4 the Best Award” by WDIV channel 4 TV in Detroit as the Best in Furnace Repair in 2010.
Great Dane has also changed the face of retailing in Metro Detroit by offering one of the area’s largest interactive showrooms where consumers not only can see, feel and hear Carrier products, but also by giving each customer a better sense of the professionalism and attention they are given during their visit. Annually, Great Dane hosts its biggest event of the year with its Annual Customer Appreciation Week in October where the community is invited to take part in special promotions, free CO detector testing, and Buy 1 Get 1 Free humidifier pads and media filters. This has become an event that its customers anticipate each year.
